As a subcontractor for M. Davis and Company, SEDC conducted a comparative survey and related focus group sessions on the level of preparedness of the general population in the St. Louis Metropolitan area as compared to people with disabilities in the same statistical region.
We gathered data about preparedness levels through mail-in and online surveys from a random sample of residents and targeted organizations from counties in and around St. Louis Metropolitan area. This was compared to a sample of individuals with disabilities and providers that served people with disabilities to evaluate whether the “All Ready” Campaign had an impact on the preparedness of the organization and the individuals they served.
The survey of people with disabilities and support organizations was complemented by a series of focus group sessions with people with disabilities to better understand the barriers that may be preventing them from being prepared for an emergency.
